Thankful for Audiobooks

November 28, 2019

I'm thankful for audiobooks that keep me out of trouble in traffic.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Without getting too sappy on you, we have a lot to be thankful for this holiday season. (Cue: Awws). I am thankful that I don’t have to drive in traffic today (woohoo!). I’m also thankful that when I do, I have great audiobooks to listen to from Nashville Public Library. There are several options for audiobooks: check out the book on CD or playaway (an mp3 player), stream the books from hoopla and/or download them from Overdrive. This last is my favorite because I can put the book on my phone with the handy Overdrive app. Then I can listen wherever, and whenever, I want (as long as I don’t wake up my husband).
One of my favorite things to do is find a great series to get lost in, then I can just keep downloading and listening and downloading and listening, etc. Recently I came across an author I’ve always wanted to read by never tried: Emma Chase. She has several series that have saved my commute. I started with her Royally series, which kicks off with hottie prince Nick of Wessco and cute New York waitress Olivia in Royally Screwed (I know…the titles are not the best part) and then moves on to their family and friends. This one currently has five books in it and I enjoyed them all.
The other series of hers I liked was The Legal Briefs. I’m a sucker for a good courtroom drama and if it has handsome lawyers in it, so much the better. This one currently has four books in the series. Maybe not quite as good as the Royally series, but still enjoyable.
Chase’s first series, Tangled, started strong with New York financial adviser, Drew Evan, falling in love with his business colleague Katherine Brooks. But then for me, the series kind of stalled. I’m currently stuck on the third book, Tamed, and I haven’t been motivated to finish it. *shrug* Maybe you’ll like it more than I have.
According to the author’s website, she has two other series that I have not yet explored: Getting Some (with two books) and a new one called The Bodyguards which doesn’t look like it’s out yet. This is exciting. (It looks like we only have Getting Some (#1) in print – no audio yet. That’s ok. Still fun to read.)
Just in case you haven’t figured it out yet, these books are total chick lit. They are romancy and sexy and fun, which is sometimes what a girl wants to listen to in order to keep her from running over the slow cars in front of her.
I hope you’re having a great Thanksgiving day. Better go rest up – tomorrow is shopping! (Wouldn’t it be great to have an audiobook to listen to while you drive from store to store?)
Happy Thanksgiving and happy listening…
