In addition to being a groundbreaking, trendsetting partnership between the public library and public school systems, Limitless Libraries also sponsors an annual bookmark and poster contest in celebration of School Library Month. Check out the 2019 winners!
Have you heard of Limitless Libraries? It improves student success by sharing resources, providing access to high quality books, online resources, and other learning material. And it serves as the model for numerous similar programs across the country.
As well, every year Limitless Libraries celebrates School Library Month (April) by sponsoring two contests for MNPS students. Elementary and middle school students have the opportuntiy to create a bookmark that highlights reading and libraries in some way. 2019 was the first year that we invited high school students to create a poster, again highlighting reading and libraries.
Students submitted entries to their school librarian. The librarian selected a school winner. Limitless Libraries staff chose overall winners from the elementary entries, the middle school entries, and the high school entries. Before school ended for the summer, we announced that Evelyn Johnson (Tulip Grove Elementary), Jerilyn Euceda Guzman (Rose Park Middle), and Diana Gonzalez-Solis (McGavock High) were the 2019 winners. Each received 20 copies of their bookmark or poster to distribute to friends and family, along with a gift card.
We were so impressed with the artwork and creativity of the winning bookmarks and poster that we want to make them available to all Nashville Public Library customers. Copies of this year's winners may already have flown from your local library, but you can still catch a glimpse of them here!
