Warm and Cuddly Winter Books!

December 8, 2017

Here are a few book suggestions to get you and your child in the winter spirit!

Cold weather and the holiday season are right around the corner. What better way to spend a chilly day then snuggled up in a comfy chair with your nose in a book? Here are a few book suggestions you can read with your child during the winter season. As always, you can find a copy at a library branch near you!

Oh! And don't forget the hot cocoa!

The Mitten is a classic children's book that features a slew of critters and their quest to keep warm in a little boy's lost mitten. The illustrations are beautiful, and the story is bound to get you excited for playing in the snow (if we get any this year)!

Another classic, The Snowy Day is the story of a young boy named Peter who wakes up one morning to his town covered in snow. What ensues is his own adventure playing in the winter wonderland.

Owl Moon is a touching tale of a father and daughter as they go out into the woods one night to watch for owls. It's a beautiful story to share with your child this winter. And "whoo" knows, maybe you'll be inspired to your own owl watch after reading it!

The Polar Express is an adventure story of a young boy who gets swept onto a train on the night before Christmas. The destination? The North Pole to meet Santa Claus. It is another classic story, and there's a movie to go along with it. But as always, I can assure you that the book is better!

Waiting for Winter is a silly tale about a squirrel, a bear, and a hedgehog waiting for the first fall of snow. Both the story and illustrations are incredibly cute, and it's well worth a read this winter season!
